Makerscopes
Self-directed learning through making

Self-directed learning is an approach to education that empowers kids to lead their own learning journey.
This was the driving force behind this project, by providing a framework for older Primary School age kids to build and customise their own science kits and to go out and make their own observations about wildlife.

The initial project is to build a ‘makerscope’ from a 3D printed components, an old disposable camera, and some basic materials found in school.

Feedback from children and teachers, was taken and used develop the design in a series of workshops - as well as contact with the National Wildlife Trust.
